Dr Jonathan Nicholson, Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine

Jonny Nicholson is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist and Deputy Director of the Department of Anaesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. He has recently completed a secondment role as the Director of Anaesthesia at Latrobe Regional Hospital in Victoria and has worked until recently as a Retrieval Consultant with Adult Retrieval Victoria.

Jonny has an interest in Perioperative Medicine, holds and supervises the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine (a cross college Perioperative Medicine qualification in Australia) and is a Lecturer with Monash University through which he convenes the Perioperative Medicine Short Course, an online and in-person education delivered to around 400 participants annually.

Dr Tammy Kimpton, Rural Generalist

Tammy is a Palawa woman from the west coast of Tasmania, happily married to Darren and mother of three awesome children.

 

Tammy is a GP, practice owner and supervisor in the rural NSW upper hunter. She has a masters in aviation medicine and has recently obtained DAME certification through CASA

Dr Laura Berkeley, Emergency Medicine

Dr Laura Berkeley is an Emergency Physician at University Hospital Geelong and a Senior Lecturer (Education-Focused) at Deakin University School of Medicine. She has a strong interest in medical education and faculty development and is a former Director of Emergency Medicine Training at University Hospital Geelong. Laura is a member of the ACEM OSCE exam writing group, has co-developed a performance course to help senior emergency medicine trainees boost performance and communication in high-stakes situations, and has been involved in mentoring and peer support programs. Originally from Scotland, she lives in Victoria with her five children and enjoys road cycling, running, travel, and exploring the outdoors with her family.

Professor Will Davies, Emergency Medicine

Emerald Beach, NSW, Australia

Will is an Emergency Physician and is currently Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine for the Clarence Valley in Northern NSW. In previous career iterations he has worked as medical officer to ski fields in New Zealand and in the Indian Himalayas, led a pre hospital combat crash rescue team in Afghanistan, worked in Northern Iraq during the ISIS years, spent 5 years in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea and worked in ICU, retrieval and emergency in Central Australia.

 

He has postgraduate qualifications in diving and hyperbaric medicine and high altitude and mountain medicine. He is a Fellow of The Australasian College of Tropical Medicine, an Associate Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Venom Research Unit. He is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at The University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine.

 

Dr Natharnia Young, Uragynae

Dr Natharnia Young is a Urogynaecologist from Melbourne Australia and is Director of Australian Pelvic floor institute. Her practice focuses on restoring quality of life to women suffering from Prolapse and incontinence.

Dr Samuel Bartholomew, Rural Hospital Medicine

Lyttleton, Canterbury, New Zealand

Self-proclaimed recreational physician who works in Te Nikau hospital as a Rural Hospital SMO when he occasionally goes to work. The rest of the time he will be found at home with his Kids and very patient and tolerant Wife in Lyttelton Harbour if not on a ski field or finding new ways to add colour to his life. Sliding on snow is part of who he is and in-fact he was a Snowboard instructor at Blackcomb back in 1999/2000 when the rules were loose. He loves innovative ways to teach and help people work as a team.

Mr James Abbott, Ski Patrol and Mountain Rescue

Squamish, BC, Canada

After moving to the mountains of Canada 'for a season' in 2007, James decided to turn this into a life spent roaming and exploring the BC mountains with Whistler Blackcomb as his main base. James began ski patrolling in 2013. Specializing in avalanche management and outdoor emergency care and with over 11 years of patrolling experience, James has been involved in several major first aid calls, mountain rescues and helps mitigate the avalanche hazard on storm days.  James’ ski patrol days are on hiatus currently as he has moved to Tasmania in search or new adventures and bush life.  His has continued his first aid passion with Maydena Bike Park in Tasmania’s south west.
