Welcome to Nozawa Onsen, a beautiful destination located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, a true snow paradise - in fact one of Japan's most superb and expansive winter sports areas!

Nozawa Onsen is equally renowned for it's onsen as well as its powder skiing, and no visit to Nozawa Onsen would be complete without taking a hot spring bath (an onsen). Many ryokan (including our chosen one, "Ryokan Sakaya") and a few minshuku have their own hot spring bathing facilities - lucky us. In addition, anyone can enjoy, free of charge, any of the thirteen public hot spring baths known as sotoyu. They all have a different source with distinct characteristics that provide for a variety of different mineral baths.

All our lectures for the Medicine with Altitude conference will be held at the Ryokan Sakaya in Nozawa Onsen. This traditional Japanese ryokan is a 3-minute walk from Kenmei-ji Temple and the Nozawa Onsen bus stop. Offering free Wi-Fi access, it houses indoor and outdoor onsen (hot spring) baths. It is also only a 5-minute walk to the amazing Yu Road which is basically a travellator getting to you to the base of the mountain and home again.
